Tea Party Follow-Up

Presentation focused quite a bit on the writings of Abraham Lincoln and how the Declaration of Independence influenced his presidency and this country.  Thomas Jefferson was also prominently featured as his influence is shown in Lincoln’s writings as well.  Thomas Paine, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Edmund Burke, John Locke, and similar thinkers and leaders were discussed.  The founding fathers were contrasted against the writings of Marx, Hegel, Wilson and Roosevelt.

The event was primarily a history lesson, with a focus on historical text found in records and past correspondence.  It particularly focused on the common theme of liberty, freedom and property rights under our system of government; and the risks and erosion of those rights over time and circumstance.

The second half of the presentation was a discussion on writing editorials and opinion pieces in support of preserving rights afforded under the U.S. Constitution.
